Royal Wedding Makeup
Now that we are finally into warmer weather, I'm taking a few pointers from the new Duchess of Sussex's wedding look to change up my color palette for summer. I thought Meghan's wedding makeup was absolutely flawless. It was simple, soft, and fresh. Of course, I immediately wanted to play around in my beauty stash to see if I could come up something similar.
Her skin was very natural with a subtle highlight. I loved that you could see her freckles show through instead of caking on heavy layers. To mimic, I used Beautycounter Tint Skin Foundation in Linen and Beautycounter Touchup Skin Concealer Pen in Fair. For a soft flush on the cheeks, I used the Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek in Perk and topped it off with a dab of Honest Beauty highlighter for a little glow. I contoured with the Kat Von D Shade + Light Face Contour Palette and then warmed up the perimeter of my face with the Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer.
Her eyes had a beautiful, warm smokey look. I turned to Kevyn Aucoin's The Legacy Palette, particularly the shade Coco, to define the crease. Unfortunately, this palette is now sold-out everywhere I've looked, but any warm-toned chocolate brown will do the trick. Then I used Glossier's LIdstar in Fawn right in the center of my lid to create definition. To line, I used the the elf Studio Cream Liner in black (it's only $3!!), and I finished off my eyes with the Glossier Lash Slick.
Meghan's lip choice was one of the first things that stood out to me. In some lighting it looked more nude, and in other lighting it looked more pink. The satin finish was gorgeous and very natural. I went with the Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon in Blossom Kiss and dabbed a little Benefit Dandelion Dew in the center of my lips to highlight. I later found out that Meghan's wedding makeup artist was Daniel Martin, who also happens to be Honest Beauty's Chief Color Consultant. So who knows, maybe the Truly Kissable Lip Crayon is the real deal!
