Review: Honest Beauty

Not sure why it took me so long, but I finally tried Honest Beauty. Maybe I'm a sucker for marketing and the chic, beautiful packaging of this line. Maybe it's the message behind the brand. Maybe I'm just slightly obsessed with Jessica Alba. Regardless, the range was calling my name at Target a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd finally try it out for myself.

Here's the good, the great, and the one I could do without...

Truly lush mascara + lash primer:  Let's jump right in with this incredible find. How is no one talking about this mascara?! I feel like I discovered some sort of hidden gem. This is simply the best new mascara I've tried in a long, long time. Before this, I had never used an eyelash primer, and shockingly it really does make a huge difference. This product has the primer (sliver end) and mascara (white end) conveniently packaged in one tube. Apply the primer, wait 30 seconds, and then apply the mascara for the longest, most well defined, yet incredibly natural looking (i.e, not clumpy) lashes of your life.

Truly Kissable Lip Crayon:  This is a very pretty range of moisturizing lip balms. They are definitely balms, so don't expect any long-wear magic, but they feel great on the lips and have nice pigmentation. They also twist-up, so you get more product than what's initially visible.

Everything Primer:  If I'm being honest, this is the one I could do without. It's a luminous primer, and I don't like luminous primers, so I don't know why I keep doing this to myself by trying new ones. I have oily to combination skin, and I don't want to make my whole face look glowy (shiny). I'd prefer to just dab a bit of highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones. It also did nothing to diminish the look of my pores. I get the point of the brand is to move away from ingredients like silicone, but in my opinion, it doesn't get the job done like a silicone based primer.

However, my experience with the mascara alone is enough to make me want to try more from the line. Have you tried anything from Honest Beauty? What about their skincare? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience!
