Had a blast a few weeks ago at the pre-opening party for the new Sephora on Michigan Avenue! Give me champagne and makeup, and I'm like a kid in a candy store. Between sips and snacks, I spotted a whole slew of fun things for fall. My wallet isn't very happy (but I had to see that coming)...
I specifically had my eye out for some new fall lip looks and was massively overwhelmed sifting through Urban Decay's insane Vice collection of ONE HUNDRED shades. Where do you even begin with this display? This collection incorporates existing shades, limited edition shades, and a whole bunch of brand-new beauties in five different finishes. Don't ask me what's what...because really, who can keep track of 100 lipsticks?
I managed to narrow down my choices to the mauvey-pink section and ultimately landed on the shade "TMI". You'll notice they conveniently have 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils scattered around in color-coordinated fashion. So of course I grabbed one from a completely different section of the display (I'm such a rebel). I went with the lip pencil in the shade "Rush".
Not satisfied with just the one lipstick find, I moseyed on over to the Tarte display. I've been on a bit of a Tarte kick lately with the Tartlette In Bloom eye palette. Such beautiful neutrals...I plan on taking these shades all the way through to cooler weather. And if it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I began looking for my next lip color from Tarte's Rainforest of the Sea collection.
I landed on a Rainforest of the Sea Drench Lip Splash Lipstick in the shade "Cabana Boy". Another mauve. I guess mauve is my thing this Fall. This entire lip collection has a comfortable matte finish, and I plan to pair my pick with that Urban Decay pencil up above.
The picture below is me rounding past the Marc Jacobs display when I first walked in and resisting the urge to pick anything up. It was a challenge. That center palette for Fall though...and the one on the bottom left...and top left. Really, I'd take them all if I could.
And lastly, it's not a trip to Sephora without grabbing something from the Beauty Blender display. Notice the two items missing from the bottom sections. Take a guess at whose basket those ended up in...
Side note: I'm sure it's all in my head, but I've now used the nude Beauty Blender for a few weeks, and I do not like it as much as the original. Something about it just feels different on the skin, and it's harder to blend out concealer.
