Beating the Winter Skin Blues
Chicago may not be called the Windy City for weather-related reasons, but you can't deny how windy it actually gets...especially in the winter. I've noticed over the past few weeks that my skin is drier and my makeup is starting to look patchy. Time to bring on the moisture!
I might as well have called this post "Beating the Winter Skin Blues with Glossier" because there's a definite theme to my moisturizing picks. I didn't plan it that way. I'm just really impressed with Glossier and tend to reach for their products over and over. If you don't know about Glossier, the company was started by Emily Weiss, creator of the blog Into The Gloss. If you ever wonder where my inspiration for blogging and my love for sharing thoughts on beauty and life come from, it's from amazing innovators like Emily. You could probably call Glossier the first crowdsourced beauty line. Their philosophy is skincare as makeup (natural, dewy, simple), and I dig it.
As someone with acne-prone skin, I was always afraid of introducing too much moisture, which is absolutely the wrong way to approach things. By adding moisture, my skin has improved considerably. Read through the details below to see what I use to keep my skin looking dewy year-round. And If you want more on how I've tackled adult acne, you can check that out here.
Milky Jelly Cleanser: This is the perfect gentle cleanser! It can even be used to remove eye makeup without stinging your eyes. I only wish they made it in a TSA-friendly travel size.
Balm Dotcom: This is your new favorite lip balm, but it's also great for cuticles. It comes in 6 scents, and it just dawned on me that I've actually managed to collect all of them (Original, Mint, Rose, Cherry, Birthday, and Coconut). They're all clear, except for Cherry with a red tint and Rose with a very subtle pink tint. My favorite of them all is Coconut!
Priming Moisturizer Rich: Helloooo, moisturized skin. This is a recent addition to my lineup, added after I began experiencing dry, winter-skin syndrome. And it's working. I use it on top of my Ole Henriksen serums. Read more about my obsession with Ole Henriksen here.
Body Hero Daily Oil Wash & Skin Perfecting Cream: You can buy these as a duo, or separately, but I'd recommend the duo because once you try one of them you're going to want to try the other!
