I definitely have a love-hate relationship with green beauty products. On one hand, I love the concept. Who wouldn't want to feel good about what they're putting on their body? Your skin is your body's largest organ...let's take care of it. But on the other hand, I hate the smell. You know what I'm talking about... It's that "I just ran through the woods, and now I'm growing a small vegetable garden on my face" smell. For real. I often read through the reviews of green beauty products online and wonder why more people aren't talking about how they just plain stink (literally).
And then there are those special few green beauty buys that pass ALL the tests. They work just as well, if not better, than the ones with all the chemicals. They don't smell funky. And I just can't stop reaching for them. Here are four favorites that have held a prominent role in my beauty product rotation.
I've talked about this mask before (read about it here), but it's definitely worth mentioning again. To me, this is the gateway drug into green beauty. You'll try it and then want to keep trying more. The jar is tiny (be prepared for that when you dish out the $$), but it actually does go quite a long way. And it will make your skin glow. While you're at it, you might want to check out the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence.
So I've obviously heard of serums for the face, but before I came across the One Love Organics Body Serum, I had never heard of serums for the body. But your body needs love too! This serum is loaded with antioxidants, and it leaves my skin feeling soft for hours. It is scented, but not in an overwhelming "I just ran through the woods" kind of way.
I really wasn't expecting to love this mascara as much as I do. I've had bad experiences in the past with green makeup products having a rough, unnatural texture. But this mascara is neither of those things. It gives volume without clumps for a great daytime look. It's definitely not waterproof, though, so just be ready for that. I use it in the shade black. I've tried the purple shade thinking I'd jump on the trendy bandwagon, but I hardly saw any color payoff on my lashes that are naturally fairly dark.
I love W3LL People so much that I couldn't just pick one product. This balm is the BEST. It's moisturizing with a hint of a minty flavor. I love the shade Poppy. It gives a beautiful flush of color that's perfect for summer. If you're familiar with the Glossier Generation G, this is a similar product, but I like the way W3LL People executes it so much better (not dry and matte).
What are some of your favorite green beauty buys?
