Lip Looks for Spring
I don't know about you, but I'm ready for some sunshine! The snow may just be melting (womp, womp), but I think it's time to put away the winter classics and pull out some fresh looks for spring. This season, I'm gravitating towards "is it summer yet?" pinks and "my lips but better" nudes. Here's a roundup of my favorite picks to take us from snow to dining al fresco.
- Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Sweet. This one is the most expensive of the bunch at $36, but it also offers more than just a flush of peachy color. Tata Harper is the cream of the crop when it comes to natural, non-toxic skincare, and these little pots are packed with antiaging ingredients. As a bonus, you can use this on your cheeks too for a natural glow, and it has a pretty gold tone to it that doubles nicely as a highlight.
- L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive in Julianne's Nude. L'Oreal is quickly becoming one of my favorite drugstore brands. They own a number of higher end brands (Urban Decay, Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty to name a few), so I like to think that I'm getting the good stuff at a great price. This lipstick does not disappoint. It may be the perfect "my lips but better" nude for my skin tone. The formula is very comfortable and does not settle into lines or cling to dry patches. Unlike the Tata Harper, this one has no gold tone. L'Oreal did a great job with the packaging as well; it looks ultra chic for the drugstore.
- Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Blushing Beauty. This one is the most traditional "lipsticky" feel of the bunch, so if your lips are particularly dry (and whose aren't after winter?) you may want to stick a balm underneath. That said, the color is beautiful (and bright, so if you're not a fan of color this one won't be your jam).
- L'Oreal Glossy Balm in Baby Berry. Hey look, L'Oreal again. To be honest, based on the packaging, I thought I was buying more of a candy apple red. There was a lot of red going on at New York Fashion Week this year, so I tried jumping on the bandwagon. Turns out this is much more of a berry pink (and it does have berry in the name so I guess that one's on me), but it is the perfect color to welcome in some warmer weather. The formula goes on sheer at first, but very buildable, and feels moisturizing on the lips.
So there you have it. Now all that's missing is a patio and some vodka lemonades...my lips are ready!
